HURRIKAN POWER FUNDING HOLDING

Hurrikan Power Funding Holding: In 2007, our former client based in the U.S. bought a German portfolio consisting of 65 MW operating wind farms as well as 85 MW in mostly permitted development projects from the Dutch utility Essent. The assets were purchased by a SPV called Hurrikan Power Holding GmbH. After all construction projects were concluded in November 2009, Hurrikan operated a portfolio of 14 wind power plants with a capacity of over 150 MW and an infrastructure company with a high voltage transformation substation. aeos energy sold three wind farms with a total capacity of 23,4 MW from the Hurrikan portfolio in 2010 to a regional utility and an individual investor. In 2011 a further five wind farms totaling 54,5 MW were sold to an institutional investor and a number of private investors. Following a refinancing round in 2012, aeos energy sold the remaining Hurrikan portfolio in two transactions to a family office and a group of private investors by the end of 2013. The development project was sold in part at the end of 2013, with aeos energy retaining a substantial share. aeos energy operated the business of Hurrikan Power and its wind farms as well as the infrastructure business for our former U.S.-based client on a day-to-day basis. We were responsible for operations of the portfolio, the financial controlling, banking relations and the technical management of the wind farms. From 2008 onwards, we were also responsible for monitoring the construction progress of the wind farm projects under construction.

PETROTANK HOLDING GMBH

Our former U.S.-based client acquired a significant shareholding of Petrotank Holding GmbH, Bremerhaven at the end of 2008, while aeos energy took a small minority position. Furthermore, the Petrotank Group also operated business activities in refined products distribution, vessel fuelling, oil recycling and biofuels (production and trade). aeos energy originated the transaction and managed the integration and the investment controlling of Petrotank Holding GmbH on behalf of our client. Furthermore, aeos energy provided the interim financial manager of Petrotank and supported the Petrotank Group in the implementation of its strategic acquisition projects. Petrotank was sold to Vitol / VTTI in two steps between 2012 and the end of 2013. VTTI has since integrated the business into Varo Energy, a downstream joint venture between Vitol and the Carlyle Group.

BIOD FUELS INTERNATIONAL GMBH

KG in two steps between 2011 and 2013. The main shareholders of BioD were two financial investors based in the U.S.. From 2011 onwards aeos energy assumed the ongoing asset management for the two investors and implemented the transaction with KFS, which had been initiated by the company’s previous management.
